Monteriggioni is considered one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Italy and it boasts magnificent exterior walls with fourteen towers on square bases and buildings inside.
This ancient town is important both from an architectural and cultural point of view and it has been mentioned in the Inferno of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Commedy. Nowadays it is also famous for “Monteriggioni di torri si corona”, one of the most scenic medieval festival held in Tuscany.
WEDDING IN MONTERIGGIONI
Monteriggioni is a beautifully preserved medieval fortified village, built on a hillock.
The circle of walls, dating from the 13C and the largest of its kind in Tuscany to have survived practically intact, has fourteen towers.
A main street crosses the village, joining the two gates. A few houses and a pretty Romanesque church face onto the piazza, and other houses surround a small public garden. Inside the walls are other private gardens. Siena transformed Monteriggioni in the imposing Fortress to protection of the boundary north in the wars against the enemy Florence.
The walled-town of Monteriggioni offers several wonderful historic spots for legal civil weddings:
The town-hall - ideal for very small wedding.
The castle gardens - ideal for outdoor weddings.
The main hall - Sala Dante.
A stunning location for you and your wedding party.
